Blank Pages In Front Of Me Now..
Hey y'all, So it's Tuesday now! Wow it's almost been a week, it feels like it's been way longer. Yesterday we went on job site tours... it took all day. We went to 10 places. ASL- a centre for disabled adults(day program), ASL- Assisted Living for Disabled Adults, Salvation Army, Soup Kitchen, Bush Plane Museum, Habitat for humanity office and build site, YMCA, The United Way, The Art Museum, and a French School. It was cool to see all the different work places, and how different they can be from each other. After the tours, we had sups, then a cool guy came over to do a workshop on interviewing skills. The man that came was interesting, and full of knowledge. He has been in human resources, and business for 40 years so he knew his stuff. He really gave me some life direction, when it comes to my career. So often everyone is wrapped up in how much money they will make, and we need to balance out how happy we will be going to work, seeing how we will spend most of our life there. It's important at the end of the day to not regret anything, find happiness in what ever you do, and love your job. I got all of that out of his message when it comes to your career path. And he gave some great advice on interviewing skills. After that I went for a nice walk to Tim's, and settled in to bed.
I accidentally turned my alarm clock off again this morning, luckily I woke up before it was too late. I'll be working on that situation, seeing how I have my first day at work tomorrow! This morning was Interviews. I had 3 interviews. The Asl Place for day program and assisted living, The united way, and the soup kitchen. I felt really confident with all my interviews. However, I had a great kick off to the first one. Im at the united way desk- I shake the ladies hand and in while doing so I tip my coffee mug over. I am just not meant to be in the real world alone ha ha.. It was so rediculous.. so my PL ran to get paper towel. Anywho, interviews were great and I snagged myself a job at the soup kitchen. I was a bit disapointed because I really wanted ASL. But I am happy for the two that got it, and I still got something on my priority list! So I will be planning activities for kids when they get out of school, and helping serve meals to those in need at the soup kitchen. This is a place I can bring lots too, when it comes to my ideas and such, since I have the freedom to do whatever I want with it. Also, there is student nurses who do projects there, so I might get to do some research projects with them. I will gain lots from it (cooking skills) ha ha, and tons more. And Im excited because I believe I can bring lots of my own experience with me there. The only problem now, is getting there tomorrow for 9am. I have no idea how city transit works and I will have to transfer buses and its a ways away. We will see what crazy story I will get out of that ha ha. Also there is a barbecue at lunch Ill be going to, Its a fundraiser for the united way. So that will be a cool lunch break.
Well a lot has already happened today. Later on I will be learning how to make homeade bread, seeing how we can't purchase bread. That will be interesting..:| <-thats a scared face. Also we will be learning how to make cleaning chemicals too, since we don't really buy that too.. and we will be learning to really clean well. Well I should get going I just wanted to update to say what job I got and such, Ill write again soon.
Much love everyone<3

ReplyDeleteI LOOOVE reading your posts so far.
Bringing me so many flashbacks!
I wish your groups would have gotten to experience Mass O. At the beginning, the 3 groups in our cluster went to a summer camp on the lake for 3 days, before we even got to see our house. buuuut on the other hand, you gotta love how spontaneous it is to randomly show up in a house with a bunch of strangers you have to live with for the next 6 months.
HAVE A BLAST! enjoy your job! be nice to your housemates!
aaaaand
set your alarm clock! ( you dont want to get any CTI's )
only 173 days to go haha
