Your stuck in my head

Heyo! Where did I leave you off? All I can recollect is when I was running out the door in a panic to catch the bus, my regular morning routine ha ha. Tuesday, Ha ha The funny Lady came in like usual, and without failure she emptied the paper towel like usual. She is rediculous<-- and I would like if someone could teach me how to spell that word correctly ha ha. Anywho, tuesday night we carved pumpkins, it was part of my french/english learning competency, and we planned that event. Each group was given a description in their second language on how to carve their pumpkin. It was fun, it was just Ian and I in a group, and he completely butchered our pumpkin. I look away for a second, and it then turned in to a haggard looking thing, (which was not the description) then I think, okay I can do some TLC.. haha then it was just one big whole. I told them not to give that one to the neighbors, they will just think we are crazy and went Psycho on it, which we did. Also our French/English instructor didn't show up to give us our lessons so that was too bad.

Wednesday, was a different day. I didn't go in to work until later because I had to stay later for the play- that same soup kitchen play i was apart of before. That night it was like a dinner theatre type deal, and te legal clinic came in to see the play, and we served them supper. Well Greg did, the cast went out to eat after. It was nice to get out, the play went great.. I thought better than the week before! I believe we also raised money which is wonderful, I am so happy I could be a part of something so wonderful. Something special happened that day before the play. A family came in while it was pouring outside, needing food. So we gave them some soup and sandwiches. And also some food to take home, because we knew they needed it. We usually only give food out to agencies, because we don't want people showing up asking for food or assuming we are just a food bank. Anyway, they walked very far, so someone could give them a ride home fortunately. Calna the person who makes it all happen at the Soup Kitchen, told them about the Good Food Box program we have at the soup kitchen which is a box of fresh produce for only $15.00 a month. Most people get sponsored for 6 months at a time. Calna told them she will look for a family to sponsor them. Meanwhile, a lady walks in, pulls Calna aside and tells her I want to sponsor a family for the Good Food Box. How amazing, that was. So this lady is sponsoring them for 6 months. And also Is giving the kids christmas presents and such. I love how the universe unfolds as it should quoted by Desiderata.

Thursday, I went in to work and got off early because my billet family was picking me up around 4:30. I almost forgot to say I got interviewed by shaw cable! They asked me what inspires me at the soup kitchen, and asked me questions about Katimavik. So apparently I will be on TV next week. I also helped a blind man who volunteers every week at the soup kitchen get interviewed by holding the microphone for him, and we also got him making sandwiches. It's amazing how even a blind person can help at the soup kitchen; they took our pictures too! Anywho- Moving back to the Billeting topic. It was exciting leaving to billet however sad leaving the group for over a week. So, like I have said I am on a reserve with my billet family. It is very interesting, I am really curious to learn more about the Aboriginal Culture. And what a perfect place to do so. The family is wonderful, and so nice. It was too bad the day I got here, the families uncle had passed away. So I spent my first night at his Wake. I know it sounds crazy, but it was interesting to learn how the Aboriginal culture grieves. Instead of at a funeral home it was at the community centre on the reserve. And it was cool, because it had a very lodgy cabin feel. The family and friends come and go at this event. And eat, and celebrate his life in a positive way. The body is left there for 24 hours while family members - Elders stay with the body over night, then from there it is brought to the burial ceremony. I didn't go to this as I was at work on Friday. After the Wake, we went back in to the town to there families home to have a couple drinks, and because Stephan the dad in the family had to fix one the cousins car. It ended up being a late night, so Friday was an exhausting day. Although I understood the family circumstances, and I was cool with the whole situation.

Friday, like I said was very exhausting. Although it went by fast, and I had fun with the Children's Program as it was the Halloween party! I was a Ninja, it was funny because they were all scared of moi. We set up a haunted house in the kitchen. With bowls of different kinds of mixtures to be the brains, eyes, hearts, stomache, and teeth. Like Spaghetti, peeled grapes, almonds, jello.. The kids were so funny. They loved it!! In the evening the family and I had nachos and watched a scary movie, Im surprised I didn't have nightmares ha ha, I don't usually mix well with the scary ones.

Saturday, today! Almost caught up ha ha. I slept in which was wonderful, and I must add the bed here is so lovely. I can't wait to go to sleep again! Anyway, today after sleeping in, Stephan, Issiah who is the 18 year old guy in the family, and I went hunting, and quading. It was so much fun, I even held a loaded gun. I know everyone is like screaming oh my god Amy, your vegetarian, and no one can see me out in the wilderness like that ha ha. Anyway, I respect people who hunt their own meat, and the Aboriginal culture. However, they didn't find a moose.. thank god. Because I don't know what I would do, if they shot it. I don't think I could handle bringing it back home with me dead. It was interesting they brought tobacco, and used it to pray for hope, and then sprinkled it on the ground. While we were quading I didn't think I was going to survive, it was quite the ride I can say that much. But tons of fun, we were gone like the whole afternoon! I also got really cold, but the bath was nice after:). And I must add their kitten Breesha is so adorable. She just hopped on to my bed and came and licked my nose, I sometimes think she thinks she is a dog herself. They also have a little weiner type dog, and a husky dog outside. So yes, now I can say I went hunting, even if we didn't get anything. Another thing, I am very bad at being stealth ha ha. It was funny, they were both being so quite then there is me splashing away, and getting stuck and falling everywhere. And of course laughing, you all know how my laugh carries...

Tonight it was really chill, I have just been relaxing and hanging out with Issiah. And loving this adorable kitten.

I hope everyone is doing well, I miss you all. I have been getting pretty lonely without being surrounded by lots of people. I got some bad news from Chelsea who is my roomate. I am sending all my love and strength her way. She lost a special someone in her life. I love you girl, I hope you can come back to us soon.

I hope everyones weekend is beautiful, and Happy Halloweeen!!!

Peace&Love of course
