Can I just stay in bed all day?
It's one of those days where I would love to stay in bed, and shut away the whole world. It's gloomy and foggy outside, and thats usually a good excuse to be lazy. Also I can't workout today because I haven't washed my runners yet from the hike we went on this weekend! So here is to lazyness.
And lazyness it was, as I fell asleep right after writing "Lazyness" and now it is 11 at night and I am too wired to go to sleep haha. I know it's been a couple days since I have posted. It's hard to find time these days to post everyday like at the beginning of the program, I just hope I am documenting as much as I can. So Saturday we went on a beautiful 4 hour hike. Well it was 3 hours, and I decided to go the extra 45 minute Pine Tree Trail, to see the biggest tree in the Sault, although it wasn't very big and I was confused why I hiked up all the hills, after being so tired to see it ha ha. Anyway, the hike was great I saw tons of beautiful trees, waterfalls, and amazing lookouts. I will have pictures soon, I believe my dp on facebook is from the hike actually! A katimavik alumni guy joined us, he is from this area, and started volunteering with the environmentalist Don- who took us out for the Hike. Also there were a couple other people from the University here, and then a guy who ran the resort where we left from. I was sure tired after, and we still had more going on that day. Oh and the weather was great, all the days before Saturday were raining, then we had sunshine and like no wind for the hike, then Sunday it went back to raining, perfect I know.
When we got home, my competency 3- which is communicating in both official languages planned an activity called French/English cherades. SO it was kind of like the actual cherades drama game, however we had like situations in either french or english for people to translate and act out. It was really funny, because David and Marina made the French ones so I wouldn't know what they said, and some of them were so funny because they were so difficult. My favorite that I did was the "At the end of a double rainbow" - my group always starts freaking out about double anything in reference to that hysterical youtube video double rainbow. Then I had one that was like "You just lost the game, the mind game". It was interesting how they did that, but people guessed it right! This was fun, but everyone was so tired. Saturday night, Mitch's mom and her friend were here to visit him, and they had supper with us. It was really nice for Mitch to have family company, and for us too because they brought so much dessert.. Cake, cookies, muffins we were all like oh my god!!
Sunday brought an overcast of rain, and other sadness. I woke up to my room mate Chelsea, who was packing to go home for a little while. There is illness in her family, and she made the decision to be with her family at this time. She is the one from BC, so she had a long travel day on Sunday. I went to drop her off at the airport it was really hard. I know that she will come back, but it's so weird not having her here. The group dynamic is a little bit off balanced with her absence. Everyone misses her so much, although we are trying really hard to be positive. It's so weird, because its just her and I in a room together, and everyone else has 3-4 people per room. Now it's just me in a room to myself, it's nice to have space for myself. But then again something is missing. I miss you lot's Chelsea, stay strong girl!
Yesterday we didn't go to our regular work placements, we went to the United Way, where Ian works to help them fix a mistake when they printed their brochures. We ended up whiting out things, and putting stickers over top of a certain section. We had pizza for lunch, which is something we usually don't have. And then we were done at like two, so that was nice. When I got home yesterday, I started this post. It sure has been an effort to finish this up, with the random minutes I have to type my life out.
Last night we did a workshop called "Positive Envelopes". Everyone got an envelope and we paired up. We had to decorate our envelopes to represent ourselves, and then we presented to our partner. It was like a chance to get to know someone more well, and see what other special things they bring to the group. I went with Mitch, and that was cool because him and I haven't really had many good talks with him yet. I am always picking on him to eat more Veggies. His mom seemed to like that when she was visiting Saturday night ha ha. Also this is like Warm Fuzzies, so it is our envelope we put on our door, and we use it as a mailbox to write nice things to each other when ever we want, and this will be ongoing! It is nice, to tell someone if they did something nice, or if you appreciate their positivity that day, or maybe you just want to put a smile on their face if you know they aren't having a good day.
Now Im all caught up, currently it's Tuesday morning, and I am about to catch the bus to go to work. Today a funny older lady comes in to Volunteer, and she usually causes more troubles than help when she is there. My job is to follow her around and make sure she isn't doing anything bad. Especially in the bathroom, she will use a whole roll of toilet paper, and then wash her hands and keep pushing on the paper towel, because she wants to empty it and be helpful to tell someone it's empty. She is a funny one. She also runs in the office to answer the phone, but all she says is Hello, and mumbles. Then she will give the guys in the office back rubs and gets in their faces. It's quite funny, she is my favorite. Last week it was her birthday, so we gave her a birthday cake. She was so proud of it, but when we were singing Happy Birthday, she didn't realize it was her birthday and she was looking around and singing to who ever she thought it was. I really enjoy working with differently abled adults, such as her.
Well, I don't want to miss this bus. I am really bad for just arriving as it is passsing. Oh wow, I forgot to mention how I actually did start a fire in my room Sunday night. That's another story:) to keep you on your toes with me ha ha. It is true, I am crazy.
Have a wonderful day everyone,
Much Love,
Amy <3
