home you are me and I am you.

Hello all, Happy Thanksgiving Weekend! We spent this week at the elemntary school in San Marcos. We started cleaning all the windows because they dont have staff to do this job. I loved being around all the kids, and hanging out with them on their breaks. Monday at their recess they were playing football and they all ran up to us with their autograph books, and swormed us to get our signatures. It was so cute, I have never signed my name so many times, i felt like I was famous ha ha, but I wasnt sure why I was famous! The school is full of lovely energy, and lots of smiles. We were fortunate to have the YCI directors come visit us this week. They pulled us out of work on Monday and we had a meeting about how everything was rolling, this was our chance to express some of our doubts and feelings towards some of the issues we have faced during the project so far. Lots of things got cleared up. They took us out for supper later on and it was really nice, i love hearing other peoples stories, and where peoples travels have taken them. It was really inspiring for me.

Tuesday we continued on with washing those windows, and they took us aside once again to a lovely cafe to talk to us before they were on their way to San Jose to spend some time at RJI. Personally I havent really geared off and did my own thing, I had this mentality the group had to be on board with any of the projects I wanted to pursue for myself while I am here. I had much anger about this built up, since I came here headstrong on what I wanted to do, and I quickly lost sight of those goals. During the YCI visit, they revisisited the idea that we can do whatever we need to do to feel we accomplished everything we came here to do. We have about two more weeks in project so I am about to get some of my own stuff going. I have two workshops on the same day planned next week, The workshops will be focused on recycling, since many communities around here dont have a program going and people dont know how to properly recycle. I also want to focus on the idea of reusing things before throwing things away. I cant change the fact they dont have a recycling program, however I can get them thinking about reusing! The first workshop will be for younger kids, and then the next one will be for adults, I will present with Ilda the recycling lady from this community for the municipality, the police, and the catholic groups, mainly people of the community. I am excited, I will start planning more today!

I know I mentioned this before, however in this community I am working in they sort of have a recycling program going. However they dont have a plant, and mostly volunteers. We spent the last couple days sorting recycling in the park, and people just drop off their stuff there. Still most people dont recycle in the community only about 12 percent they say. I spent today cleaning up the site with Jorge. The rest of my group went in to San Jose to the stadium to watch the Brazil and Costa Rican Soccer Game. I wasnt that cool to go, I instead wanted to help out with recycling, and what not here. I also taught english lessons with Jorge last night too. Of course we went out and saw the game later on with Diego!

Also in the high school we started painting a mural on a wall, we all have our own section. I will finsih mine on Monday. I am drawing a tree, with finger prints as the leaves, and then the earth will be connected in the tree. I will post a pic when I am done. I am crossing my fingers it wont rain so I can finish it. It is now even more rainy season. Apparently October is just crazy for rain, so instead of only raining in the afternoons, it rains all night too, and earlier in the day. However I soak up the sun while it lasts!

Things are crazy, we will finish painting next week and do one more day with the recycling program, and then we will go help build a classroom in the high school. Our last week we will be at the organic farm, I am so excited!! They have some feathers for me too.

Sorry if this made no sense I am in a rush!
Lots of love everyone!
