Happy Birthday Sister.

...sorry it has been so long, I havent really felt like posting, not feeling as inpired or motivated this week. Well it has been another exhausting week. Monday we were doing recycling jazz- Tuesday we started work with the Tropica Foundation a place up in the mountain. They have beautiful trails through the rainforest, and a chalet type house for tourists to have lunch, and to learn about the coffee and other touristy like things. They also have the cutest little shack with tons of bunk beds, it an older couple who run this place. It is so beautiful, however they dont have any workers or money for people to do trail maintence, and thats where we come in Huzzah! First let me tell you, the drive up the mountain is the funniest, we all pile up in to this old school jeep where there is like two little benches in the back where you sit face to face, and then the front seat. The ride is literally straight up a gravel curvy road. We are all flying everywhere, it is hilarious, and I just dont look at the edge right beside us. Anyway we always survived, the man knew what he was doing, as he has probably lived on the moutain his whole life. I spent a lot of time raking leaves off the trail, and fixing the fences along the path. It was so peaceful, and so green. Rainforest, all I have to say, and a waterfall. Adam and Melanie saw a monkey, I wasnt that lucky, but I had a monkey throwing things at me if that counts ha ha. We worked there mainly the mornnings because it literally poured rained in the afternoons.

We also had english lessons as usual, and it was nice that the people were really interested and actually learning things. We had another wave of sickness throughout the group, this week Melanie stayed home a day. Every week its someone new. Things are still interesting with three extra bodies in the house, with one being a crying two year old. Its okay I enjoy waking up at five in the mornning.. an hour before I actually need to be up. That always makes for a good time of course.

Today we worked an extra day in the rainforest, I felt most accomplished today so thats good. Tomorrow we are going to visit an apple orchard, I am excited for that. And its also Robertos birthday party, an actual real one this time around. Apprently all the family are coming over, oh goodness more people in our small home. Next week we are doing some work in the high school in San Marcos. They are building a couple new classrooms, and need some help with other maintence. I am excited to meet some of the local kids at the same time!

I am looking forward to the next three weeks, we are also going to finish our last week at the Organic Farm and just bring all of our stuff there, before leaving to San Jose. Its refreshing to have different projects every week, it keeps things new. After project I have a week traveling on my own, Jorge is going to join me. We are going to the coast, and then doing some traveling around to the Volcano, and I am going to go skydiving and do all those wild things hopefully. I am excited for the beach let me tell you! I also switched my flights so I am going to Sault Ste. Marie for two weeks, that was my first project with katimavik. I am going to do some volunteering at the soup kitchen again. I wanted to mainly help out for their sleep in a box fundraiser, so I am excited to be apart of it for another year. I am going to stay with my billet fam from there, it will be exciting to see some familiar faces again! I will be for sure home Nov. 12th!

It can be difficult seeing my impact on these communities, however they say you dont appreciate the work you do on project until you are home. I am tired of wearing dirty clothes, and the constant damp clothes that never dry, Mosquito Nets that always get tangled around me while I sleep, Or that lingering smell... that never goes away. Its interesting, also group life can be difficult. I am trying to stay positive.

Lots of love, and Happy Happy Birthday Brittany. I wish I could be there with you. I know everyone will party hard with you.

Amy:)
