Home is calling me..

I hope everyone had a beautiful weekend, ours sure was busy with all the cleaning and such, of course we still had fun though! This week flew by, and it was my last week at my job at the YMCA it was weird knowing I won't be working another day there. Wednesday we had our French teacher over as I mentioned to do an acadian supper with us to wrap up our lessons, it was really good and it was a nice way to say goodbye. He was a really good teacher, and he went above and beyond the expectations of a second language teacher. Thursday we had even more planning. When I say planning, I mean our goodbye party, debriefing workshops, cleaning and organizing the house, and wrapping up our collective project. We have really worked well as a team to make all of this happen, and we have done very well. With this weekend being an intense clean, and everyone working on their projects we really find a way to accomplish everything. It is very overwhelming avoiding the end of the project while spending time preparing to end it.  There is mixed feelings everywhere, and it can be very overwhelming.

Friday we went to Youth Night, and we all wore our PJAYS for a PJ party, although it was only us wearing our PJays, at least we were comfortable! That helps the youth zone with planning activities and knowing what activities will actually work with the youth. I had a lot of fun playing spoons, and cheat with a few of the kids. Next friday is a break dancing workshop, apparently like triple the kids show up, and it is crazy. I am excited because the guy is really good, and it is a lot of fun! It will be a perfect way to wrap up our collective project.

Saturday we woke up early to give out jobs for cleaning the house, later on we went to a fundraising event for the Canadian Cancer Society. It was at a bowling alley, and we made two teams. Different businesses and such participated in the event. We had a good turnout raising almost $300.00, and the event in general made like 6,300.00 something like that! Marina KB was happy because she worked at the Canadian Cancer Society and she worked on this event during this rotation. We divided ourselves by top and bottom bunks and decorated white tshirts instead of wearing our regular Katima shirts. It was a lot of fun, and I realized I am not too terrible at bowling well considering I broke Carli's finger last time I tried bowling. My team wasn't too impressed to hear that, hehe. Either way we all had a lot of fun because we had many dance parties. When we got home, we started to clean and didn't stop until our late dinner.

My Bottom Bunk Team at the event!
Sunday is today, and we started to clean at like 12:30 so we got to sleep in and it was nice. I am house managing this week so I was with the Kitchen team. I also went outside to do some shoveling- of course we got even more snow. Half of us went to the boys and girls club to volunteer at their BINGO night. They were not expecting us, so they really didn't need us however we got jobs, and had a lot of laughs. I love working with older people, especially the ones who are retired and they are so proud of their side jobs they have done for many years. I also loved when people assumed I spoke french and I would have to tell them I didn't understand anything they had said after like a long explanation. Then I would be proud of myself when I actually could understand what they said. When it comes to my french, I had my evaluation today and I actually went up a level. I was very surprised, yay for me! I am going to miss the constant french around me.

As I mentioned I am house managing this week with Marina KB I am excited to spend more time with her this week because I haven't got to know her as much as I wished I had over the months. We will have a busy week since we are the last house managers, of course extra cleaning. Tuesday we have our goodbye party, Katie made a wicked video for our presentation, and Marina KB and I will have to make a couple deserts for the party. Thursday we have a very special guest coming to visit. The guy from Heritage Canada, he is basically the one who signs that something million dollar cheque every second or third year for Katimavik, he was also involved with the budget cuts. I can't believe our main funder will be coming to our house, and I will be cooking him breakfast. Also someone from head office will be coming as well as our project coordinator. That is added stress for getting our house in tip top shape.

This week will be crazy, and I will enjoy every moment of it since it is my last full week in Katima life. Where has time left me?

Peace & L o v e of course :)
